Coaching philosophy
I believe a coach should be a mentor, teacher and a role model to his players. I am a firm believer of teaching fundamentals and skills, along with the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship. Development of players is top priority. Skill level develops at different rates which are mostly accomplished through repetition in practices, but effort and having fun can always be achieved as well. Also, since I was a student athlete myself, I know that players gain confidence and love for the game through positive feedback from parents, coaches, and their peers. I try to continually provide this and always give equal opportunity to my players.
In addition, while many people think that a team’s success is defined by winning championships. I strongly believe that success can be defined in other ways like making progress, giving your best effort, how much did we learn or how much better were we at the end of the season than at the beginning. Last but not the least, I believe that education and sports go hand-in-hand and that both build your character and help you overcome adversity in life.
Expectations
I expect that all of our student athletes are team players, committed, hard-working, loyal, and most of all RESPECTFUL. I require all student athletes to be punctual and ready to play at all times. This can be fully achieved with open communication not just with the players, but with the parents as well. Of course, I expect all players to be diligent students, that education is the forefront of being a student athlete. With this, I would be happy to see my players making it to the next level, but I would be fulfilled as a coach and educator to see my players succeed in life.
