Transitional Kindergarten - 2nd grade Objectives:
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Students will learn the importance of staying physically active through structured PE instruction. In addition, they will learn the importance of being social and working with others. The students will learn through activities such as: cardiovascular exercise, physically fun games, as well as short lectures during activities.
Course Objective:
A. students will learn how to move through space and time in their environment
B. The student will gain knowledge of loco-motor movements, manipulative movements, and stability movements.
C. Students will learn to keep a healthy outlook on fitness.
3rd - 5th grade Objectives:
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is designed to introduce the student to theory, skill development, and knowledge of multiple activities that can be enjoyed throughout one’s lifetime. Students will learn the knowledge and skills essential for participation in lifetime activities. More specifically the students will learn the fundamentals of team sports.
Course Objectives:
A. The student will learn the fundamentals of a various sports and correctly demonstrate the basic skills and tactics with ease and confidence.
B. The student will gain knowledge of skills, rules, and history of the games introduced.
C. The student will learn sportsmanship and teamwork.
D. Students will perform a variety of plyometric exercises to help improve flexibility, muscular strength and cardiovascular endurance.
E. Students will perform a once a month Fitness day/10 minute run/mile-run.
5th - 8th grade Objectives:
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Students will learn the knowledge and skills essential for participation in lifetime activities. The physical education course will provide opportunities for students to gain knowledge, enhance physical health and fitness levels, develop motor and social skills, and acquire habits which promote a healthy life style. In addition, the student through team sports will learn the importance of being responsible, committed, and hardworking. Moreover, the students will learn to be competitive, demonstrate good sportsmanship, and good overall character which will prepare them for the next level.
Course Objectives:
A. Students will perform a variety of exercises to help improve flexibility, muscular strength and cardiovascular endurance.
B. Students will be able to execute basic skills needed to play a variety of team sports and activities.
C. Students will be able to show a basic understanding of rules and scoring for all games and activities.
D. Students will be able to showcase the ability to work together as a team toward a common goal.
E. Students will perform a once a month Fitness day/15 minute run/mile-run.
F. Students will be assessed during the fall/spring season using the California Fitnessgram Test.
Elementary Standards
In elementary school the content standards emphasize the way in which students move through space and time in their environment, the way in which the student and a partner move in space together, the continuity and change in movement, the manipulation of objects in time and through space, and the manipulation of objects with accuracy and speed.
Middle School Standards
In middle school the content standards emphasize working cooperatively to achieve a common goal, meeting challenges, making decisions, and working as a team to solve problems.
